Egypt Trip

This past winter break, Jared and I spent almost 2 weeks in Egypt. We traveled to different parts of Egypt like, Cairo, Luxor, Edfu, Aswan, and Sharm El Sheak. We had so much fun and left with a better knowledge of the Egyptian history.

We spent our first day in Cairo, and went to the Cairo Museum. There we were able to see many different things. We saw all of the treasures that were burried in King Tut's tomb with him, we were even able to see some mummy's. It was interesting to see that some of the mummy's still had thier finger and toe nails, their teeth, and even their hair. Unfortunately we werent able to take any pictures inside the museum.

The next morning was really tough. We had to get on a plane at 5:00am to fly to Aswan. There, we got to see a damn that was built on the Nile River and visit a temple that was dedicated to the Goddess Isis. It was amazing to learn that the temple was moved from its origional location, brick by brick, to preserve it from the Nile River. After visiting the temple we checked into our room on our cruise ship. We spent 3 nights on this small cruise ship floating down the Nile. During this time we visited more temples and eventually ended up in Luxor. I Luxor we took a carriage ride to see the different area's of the city. We saw where the rich, middle class, and poor live. While in Luxor we visited the Karnak temple, which was huge!!! It took about 2,000 years to build. At night we visited the Luxor temple, which was aboslutely beautiful!

We came back to Cairo and had a romantic dinner on the Nile on a floating restaurant. During dinner we had a belly dancer come and perform, and a Egyptian folk dancer. The next day was the Pyramids!! They were amazing. We were able to go inside one of the pyramids. It was so hot and there was no ventilation inside. There was only one way in and one way out. However, it was so amazing to see the inside. After, we rode on a camel. I was a little nervous but it was a lot of fun. Jared got to stand up on the back of the camel, but I was too scared to do it myself. After the amazing pyramids, we saw the Mosque of Muhammed Ali. It was so beautiful, and very sacred, we had to take our shoes off while we were inside.

The last place we went was Sharm El Sheikh. We loved it there! It was so beautiful. It is a resort town and every hotel is right by the Red Sea. Our resort was huge! There was a small water park, and many pools for us to relax in. The second day we were there, we had a tour to a national park where we were able to go snorkeling along the coral. It was so beautiful. There were so many different kinds of fish there. More fish than we saw in the Caribbean. We were very sad to leave that place.

We had so much fun in Egypt, there are so many stories to tell, but not enough room to write them all. We had amazing guides that made our stay in Egypt a very memorable one.

I Did It!!!

Well, I finally did it. For Christmas I decided that I would make my little sister, Chloe, a quilt. It was my first quilt that I have made by myself. It took a lot of hard work, but last night I finally finished it! Here is a picture of the quilt...

Update!

Its been forever since I last blogged, but things have been crazy with the holidays coming up. (I posted some pictures at the bottom.)

For my birthday (Nov. 26) Jared took me to the Cheesecake Factory at the Irvine Spectrum for dinner. Then we went to this new cup cake store, where we were able to frost and decorate our own cup cakes. Since I love cup cakes, that was the perfect dessert! After we decorated the our cup cake, we went to see the 007 movie, Quantum of Solace.

Thanksgiving weekend was great because we were able to sleep in and spend time with our families. We had Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents house. My family loves to play games, so this year we played Apples to Apples and Dominos. Since we didn't see Jared's family on Thanksgiving, we met them at Disneyland the next day for a couple hours and went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner.

After Thanksgiving all I wanted to do was decorate for Christmas. Jared and I went out and got our first Christmas tree and decorated it with some ornaments that my grandma had given us. I love the feel of our apartment when I come home and see the Christmas spirit there. Last week my little sister Chloe had her annual Gingerbread House Decorating party. Of course Jared and I were there to help my mom out. Its always fun to watch the kids decorate their little houses with so much candy. There are some that come with designs in mind for their houses.

Well, that pretty much sums up what we have been up to for the past couple weeks. Hopefully I will stay on top of keeping this updated. Now we are both trying to hurry and get our holiday shopping done before Christmas next week. Also, Jared and I are looking forward to our trip to Egypt after Christmas.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Every Christmas Eve, we would make a lot of different kinds of snacks like chips and dip, bagel bites, carrots, etc. and we would all sit on the floor and watch a Christmas movie.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Now we do... with so many families houses that we have to visit, we need to do some on Christmas Eve.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? I havent decorated it yet but I want to do red, green and gold ornaments with a large red bow on top with the ribbons coming down the front of the tree.

11. What is your favorite stocking stuffer? I love getting make up or a CD.

12. Can you ice skate? Kinda... not really. I am not coordinated enough

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I dont know if I have a favorite... I just love getting lots of clothes.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Spending time with my family

17. What tops your tree? A large bow, just like my mom.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Both. I love the feeling of watching someone open a present that I got them, but like anyone... I love seeing what people got me.

Weekend Recap

Friday night was the Twilight Movie opening, so of course Jared and I went to see it. We went with our good friends Mike and Katie. Before the movie, Jared and I went to Acapulco for dinner.


It was really good. I am glad that I got to see it on opening night, however, there was a down side... there were a lot of screaming teenage girls there. Oh well. I liked the movie, however, it wasn't as good as the book. There were a couple scenes I would have extended and others parts of the book that I would have wanted to see, but all and all it was good. Summit Entertainment also released a statement this weekend saying that they are going ahead with turning the second book, New Moon, into a movie.

Saturday night, we went out to dinner at the Olive Garden with Grandma and Grandpa McGregor and my parents for my birthday. After dinner, we went back to my Grandparents house for apple cobler dessert and for me to open my present. They got me my first sewing machine. I am so excited. I am planning on making a couple quilts for Christmas this year, and now I have my own sewing machine. YAY. I never thought I would be so excited to get that. Also, from my parents I got a new cell phone. It is so cute!!! Its the new Verizon Blitz. I love it!!!

Fire

Saturday was a scary day. As everyone knows there were some crazy fires in Corona/Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda, Brea, Modesto and Sylmar. The fires have consumed over 35,000 acres so far. Thankfully, my family is safe from this disaster, however there were many people who lost their homes this weekend. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who were affected.

Happy Halloween!!!!

This Halloween Jared and I are keeping it low key. We decided to stay home this year.

We are going to be staying home and passing out candy and watching "The Corpse Bride".
