Roseville Vacation - Part 2

So here is our part 2 of our vacation. After Yosemite, Jared and I drove the 4 hours to Roseville, CA. For those that don't know where that is, it's about 30 minutes north of Sacramento. We spent the first day driving around Roseville. Jared had a lot of fun showing me around at all the places he remembered from his mission. It was great to hear all the stories that he suddenly remembered after driving around the area.

We then made an effort and did a session at the Sacramento Temple. It is a beautiful temple that is nessled up in the hills of Rancho Cordova. It reminded me a lot of the Newport Beach Temple. Jared was serving his mission during the time of the open house and dedication. At that time he was working in the Mission Office and was able to work a lot with the open house. We stopped by the Mission Office, but it was closed. After the temple I went to my friend Kristen's bridal shower in Granite Bay. We have been friends since elementary school. It was great to get to spend time with her and see her family.

Sunday, we drove up to Marysville which is north of Wheatland to go to church. It was great to meet some of the people that Jared served on his mission. They all said that he was an amazing missionary, but I already knew that. After church we spent some time at Kristen Wortham's house. She is the sweetest person I have ever met. Jared and I absolutely love her. Jared and his companion taught Kristen. It was great to meet someone who's life was changed because of Jared. We also spent time with The Blake's. They were so sweet. They live in Antelope, which was Jared's first area.
Monday (Memorial Day) we went down to Sacramento. We both have never seen the Capital so we decided to walk around there. Behind the Capital was a large park with different memorial's. We felt that this was a great thing to do on Memorial Day. After visitng Sacramento, Jared and I went back to Roseville and had lunch at this place called Mr. Pickle's. It was a great sandwich place, however very expensive. The whole place had a Jim Carrey theme. I guess that the other places have different celebrity themes. After lunch, we met up with Jared's friend Bryce and his girlfriend Shelby and went to Folsom Lake. There were so many people there, but we figured that would happen. Bryce and Jared went skimboarding while Shelby and I layed out on shore. Apparently, Jared said that skimboarding was a lot different at the lake than at the beach, and he prefers doing it at the beach. (I don't blame hime since there were rocks everywhere.) After a great day at the lake we went to see 'Terminated Salvation' with Bryce and Shelby. I wasn't too big of a fan of the movie, but the action in it was great. Arnold makes an appearance in the movie and it totally ruined it for me.

In the Capital they had a bunch of these for each county. Here is the one from Orange County.

More stuff from inside the Capital.

I found this plaque infront of a monument for the Vietnam War. "Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own. And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heros you left behind."

That was our wonderful vacation. We can't wait to plan another trip there. I love Northern California. It was so beautiful!!

Yosemite Vacation - Part 1

Jared and I recently went to visit his mission in Roseville, CA this past weekend. Since there are a lot of pictures I decided to split it into two different posts. Before going to Roseville, we stopped in Yosemite National Park to attempt to hike Half Dome. After going on the hikes at Girls Camp and some family hikes through out my life, I thought that this wouldn't be too difficult... well I was VERY WRONG. This was the hardest hike I have ever been on in my life!! Normally, the hikd is about 16.5 miles roundtrip, well we ended up getting lost (TWICE) coming back down and it ended up being almost an 18 mile hike for us. By the time we got to the car, Jared and I were walking like we were 80 years-old. It has taken us a couple days to fully recover from that, but everything considered it was an amazing hike. I have never been to Yosemite before, and it was absolutely beautiful!! I would definately go back again. Here are some pictures from our hike.

Yosemite National Park!
Jared and I just starting our hike.
Crossing over the River. We took the 'Misty Trail' up to Half Dome.
Me starting the climb up the "Misty Trail'. We hiked along side the waterfall.
Jared hiking along the 'Misty Trail'.
Still hiking... it shouldn't be called 'Misty Trail' it should be called 'Get Soaked by the Mist and Wind Trail'.
Our view from the top of the water fall.
Looking out over the waterfall. It was beautiful!!
Jared and I on top of the falls... still a long way to go.
We saw 5 deer along the trail. Jared almost got to touch one but some hikers came and scared it.
Jared almost to the top!!
Me almost to the top!!
This is Half Dome... 8,800 feet high.
FINALLY reaching the top of Half Dome. Here was our beautiful view!
Jared and I on top of Half Dome. So exhausted and dreading our hike back down.
This is what we had to hike up to get to the top. You can see some hikers coming up. This was the hardest part.
Jared on his way down. This part was really scarey and hard on our knees and legs. It was like walking down a billion steep steps.
Driving out of Yosemite we saw this sunset so I had to take a picture. BEAUTIFUL!!!

Such Excitement!!!

So tomorrow Jared and I leave for our much anticipated vacation to Northern California. We are planning to visit parts of his mission and visit some people that he became close to. I have never been to Northern California so I am very excited. On our way up we are going to stop for the night in Yosemite and do some hiking. Pray for us that a bear doesn't attack us or that we get lost.

Something else that we are excited for....

'So You Think You Can Dance' is premiering tomorrow night!!!! Unfortunately we will miss it, but thankfully Nona has U-Verse so we will be able to watch it when we get home on Tuesday. This has to be one of our favorite shows to watch together. Jared isn't much of a T.V. guy, so its nice to have that one show that we can sit together to watch. I think one of these days he wants to try out. :)

Angels and Demons

This past weekend Jared and I went to see Angels and Demons. It was a good movie, however by the time we got to the theater the movie was about to start so we were forced to sit in the very front of the theater. That was not fun. There was so much going on during the movie that by the time it was over I had a huge headache. Other than our seating it was a good movie. It was more bloody than The Devinci Code was but, still good.

Just for Fun

I am so obsessed with this Photoshop thing online that a friend of ours introduced me to. Almost every picture that I take or have on my computer I have been playing with on this fun website. There are so many things you can do to the pictures and it is for free. There are other things that look really cool, but you have to pay for them. Here are some pictures that I have Photoshoped lately.

On Monday night for Family Home Evening, Jared and I went to see the Wolverine movie. It was so good!! We love those kind of action pact movies. The beginning of the movie was very well done and set up the rest of the movie better than most movies I have seen. I'm not going to give anything away, but if you haven't seen the movie yet, you have to! Last night Nona and I had a Girls Night with some of the Relief Society sisters. We went to dinner at the Fish Market (off of La Palma) and saw Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. It was such a cute movie with a really good message, however, I didn't like all the sexual comments that were made throughout the movie. This is a good Girls Night movie.
Now we are planning on a vacation. Jared and I are in need of a vacation. So, after school is done we are taking a trip to Northern California to visit Jared's mission. I am really excited to see where Jared served his mission and meet some of the people that he served. We will be making a stop in Yosemite National Park for a night and we are going to try to hike up Half Dome. It looks really hard but I think we can do it!

Fun Surprise at Disneyland

So, today Jared and I went to Disneyland with his family. We spent our time with Jared's family at California Adventures. Jared, Chloe, Kelsea, Jake and Daddy Rummler thought it would be fun to run through those water parts in the Bugs Land. Chloe was soaked!!! Later that evening when his family left we met up with my family. We had dinner at the Pizza Port and went on a couple rides. My mom hadn't been on the Small World since they reopened it, so of course we went on that ride. Jared is such a good sport with going on the little kid rides with me. Anyways, so after we went on It's a Small World, we decided to go on Pirates... well unfortunately it was closed for some reason so we went on the Haunted Mansion instead. While we were in one of the rooms getting ready to go on the ride I saw Shawn Johnson from Dancing with the Stars!!!I was sad that Mark wasn't with her... that would have been amazing!!!!I pointed her out to Jared and he told me that I should go up to talk to her. I honestly didn't want to bother her because I am sure she just wanted to have a normal day and have fun at Disneyland, however, Jared decided to go up to her. He talked to her for a minute and told her that I loved watching Dancing with the Stars that she she is my favorite dancer. (Which is true). Anyways, I thought it was cool that we saw her in person. She is so tiny!!! Honestly if I was to stand next to her should would come up a little past my shoulders and I am only 5'3!!! We had such a fun day at Disneyland with our families. We feel so blessed that we are able to go to Disneyland whenever we want and are able to live close enough to family to see them often.
